KURT LINDSEY NCCAA ALL AMERICAN

 

 The Men also had a great end to the 2009 Indoor Season with Sophomore Kurt Lindsey finishing as an All-American in the Men’s 5000 meter run. Lindsey fought his way to a third place finish as he posted a personal record by 27 seconds in a time of 15:27.20.  Lindsey just edged out his teammate Freshman John Millsap who finished fourth in the race. Millsap’s time of 15:27.50 was just .3 seconds behind that of Lindsey’s and was also a 17 second personal best time for Millsap.

The duo of Lindsey and Millsap also scored points in the Men’s 4 x 800 meter relay with Sophomore Ryan Clift and Freshman Zach Morgan as they finished sixth overall. Morgan and Clift led the Men’s Distance Medley Relay to a fifth place performance in a season best 11:05.48.
Freshman high jumper Spencer Stephens finished the day’s scoring with his eighth place finish in the Men’s high jump. Stephens set a season’s best jump of 5’11” to help the Patriot Men finish eighth overall in the team standings.

“I’m extremely pleased with this 2009 Indoor Season,” said Head Coach Jacob Phillips, “we’re healthy, we’re running better than we ever have, and we’re excited about what’s to come. The women have improved at every meet this season and to watch Kurt Lindsey and John Millsap fight the way they did in the 5000 meters is going to inspire this men’s team to continue working hard and continue believing that they can compete at this level. I’m very proud of every athlete we carried here today; now we just have to keep pressing on into the Outdoor Season.”

Ladynecks Finish 3rd at Hawk Relays

Only six points out of first place the Ladynecks had a good showing at the Hawk Relays. Adrian Stephens was a major point earner, medaling in the 100, 200, and the long jump. Adrian’s hand held time was very close to the school record in the 100 meter dash. Pole Vaulter Jessica McNew finished 2nd. Junior Sydney Hamm medaled in both the 800 and the 1600 meters. Hannah Childress jumped an impressive 4’10” in the high jump.

ROUGHNECKS WIN HAWK RELAYS

White Oak out scored a field of 8 schools. Spenser Lynn won 2 golds, winning the 3200 and the 1600 meter runs. Taylor Tarr had a new personal best in the Discus and won the gold. Houston Spakes won the high jump with an impressive jump of 6’06”. Sophomore Jake Moyers won the Triple Jump leaping more than 38’00”. The team scored 132 points besting second place Harmony at 87 points.
White Oak will Compete at Union Grove this Friday at 12:00 noon. HOPE TO SEE YA THERE!!!!

This squad went 3:14.00 to break the previous record of 3:14.73.

HOUSTON, Tx. – A number of athletes on the UT Arlington track and field teams posted solid times on the second day of the Houston Indoor Invitational.

Adolphus Jones finished second in the heptathlon with a score of 4,969. He was third in the long jump and fourth in the shot put on the second day of the event.

The Mavericks placed second and fourth in the 60 meter dash as Cordero Gray was second (6.78) and Jarid Vaughan fourth (6.83). Idilio Campos continued his strong indoor season with a second place finish in the mile run in a time of 4:15.21.

UTA also continued to place well in the pole vault as Jarid Tuel finished third with a vault of 4.90 meters (16-00.75) and Wade Hayes was sixth at 4.75 meters (15-07.00).

The UTA 4×400 relay team was also second in a time of 3:18.47.

Darren Rous was second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.36 while Andrew Duncan finished fourth in the high jump with a mark of 2.04 meters (6-08.25 feet). Timothy Thompson was sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.13.

On the women’s side, Jasmine Walls continued to run well with a third place finish in the 200 meters (24.97) and a fourth in the 60 meters (7.60).

Lydia Chebii posted her second consecutive top 10 finish with a fourth place finish in the 5,000 meters (18:19.19).

Antonia Hopkins had a pair of top 10 finishes as she was eighth in the 200 meters (25.41) and 10th in the 400 meters (58.80).

Amanda McMahon was eighth in the 3,000 meters (10:21.82) while the women’s 4×400 relay team was ninth with a time of 4:00.67.

 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The UT Arlington men’s and women’s track and field teams finished their first day at the Razorback Invitational with some strong finishes field events and distance runs that were contested.

The Mavericks had three of the top 10 finishers in the men’s pole vault as junior Jared Tuel won the event with a vault of 4.90 meters (16-00.75 feet). That mark was a personal indoor best for him.

He was followed by junior Wade Hayes who finished in fourth at 4.80 meters (15-9 feet) and Cory Carswell who was 10th at 4.50 meters (14-9 feet).
