Sorry for my tardiness.

The girls made us proud. Adrian showed up in the stadium at 9:30 to compete at 12:00. Then we had a 5 hour rain delay. Then her event was rescheduled for 9:45pm. Adrian placed 6th. Avery has been battling 2 different injuries for the past 4 weeks and still came within 9 inches of her personal best and placed 6th. Sydney ended her 2 year run in the 1600 only 1 second from her personal best and finished in sixth place. This is the most girls we have had in Austin since the 800 relay team in 1994. And a strong finish to a season that was the second in a row of District Titles. Thank you to all the people who helped this season go smooth for these kids.

Media release has White Oak boys with 3 of the top 5 Vaulters in the Region. Jessica McNew comes into the meet as the number 1 seed on the girls side. Sr. Sydney Hamm is the favorite in the 800 meter and the 1600. Sr. Adrian Stephens near the top of the leader board in the long jump. Tara Wait has a realistic shot at making the top 2 in the 300 hurdles. more Regional standings to come, later.

BACK TO BACK

Senior Adrian Stephens led the team Qualifying for Regionals in 4 events. District Champion in the 100 meter and Long Jump. She was also the lead off runner on the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relay teams that are going to Regionals. Senior Sydney Hamm won the 800 meter with a new personal best and then won the 1600 meter with another personal best. Then Sydney was on the 1600 meter relay team that advanced to Regionals. Senior, Rachel Carson was the champion discus thrower. Senior Kristen Nall was on the 4×100 meter relay team. We had a total of 12 girls qualify for regionals. In route to the title the girls scored 102.3 points and was 88 points ahead of second place.

The Varsity boys team was 4th overall and had 5 Regional Qualifiers. Senior Josh Spedowski was District Champion in the pole vault. Senior Zack Stolle was also a qualifier in the same event. The other Regional Qualifiers were underclassmen.

The girls RQ warm-up meet has been moved to Gladewater, Pittsburg canceled their meet. They will be competing on Friday.

The girls track team had another strong showing in Troup.

The Ladynecks out scored Whitehouse, Jacksonville, Bullard that were part of a field of 15 schools at the meet.  We backed off the load of several girls to try to be fresh for this weeks District Meet. That meet will be held at White Oak all day Thursday, beginning at 9:30am, The exact schedule of events will be released after the District Meeting on Monday night.

The boys team is being led by Sr, Josh Spedowski that has gone 13′00″ the last 2 weeks in the pole vault. Jr. Jake Moyers ran a season best in the 800 this last week. The Roughnecks placed in the top 8 teams last week. We felt this was a good showing with this meet including Kilgore, Whitehouse, Jacksonville, Bullard.

The girls team won the meet by a large point margin. Outscoring District opponents Union Grove, Winona, and Harmony. Avery Christensen tied the school record in the Triple Jump. Adrian Stephens 100, Rachel Carson Discus, the 800 meter relay team of Christensen, Kenzlie, Childress, Stephens. Sydney Hamm in the 800 and 1600. (all had gold medal performances)

The boys team outscored Union Grove, and Sabine. Josh Spedowski jumped a new personal record of 13′00″ in the pole vault. The Roughnecks finished 1,2,3 in this event.

Between the 3 teams of Varsity Girls, Varsity Boys, Junior Varsity Boys we set 19 new personal records.

This week on Thursday we will be competing in Troup. This meet will have 15 schools. This meet will have teams from 4A to 1A.

This Meet has been changed to a one day meet on April 15.

The exact time schedule is under construction.

I will try to get this information out as soon as possible.

The reason for the change was a schedule conflict with band. Sorry, I do not know the exact title of their competition.
